        Hi MegaMJB,

Yes the average temperature across the planet has increased by almost 1 degree centigrade since humans started putting a lot of pollution into the air during Victorian times. Scientists are working hard to understand how many different things affect the climate so that we can predict what will happen to the Earth – but it’s very complicated!

We know that we have emitted too many greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, and this is making the planet warmer. Scientists are trying to work out ways that we can carry on doing all the things we need to do (going to school, cooking food) without emitting so many greenhouse gases. But, it’s also up to engineers, politicians and the public (you guys!) to help stop climate change happening!

Last year all the leaders in the world got together a signed a document to say that they will try to prevent climate change from happening, by emitting fewer greenhouse gases in their countries – so it’s up to us all to make sure that all the countries stick to their promises!
