I’ve not tried it yet – I didn’t even know you could do that experiment! I’m going to go home and try it tonight though, it looks really cool!
I read that the plastic you make from milk is actually something called casein. This happens when the protein in the milk meets the acid in the vinegar. The casein in milk doesn’t mix with the acid and so it forms blobs – the plastic! Then you can mould it into a shape and it will go hard. It sounds like a fun experiment!
I wonder if it would work with different types of acid – like lemon juice instead of vinegar!
My science project was this experiment. I also used food colouring to change the colour and moulded the casein plastic into different shapes using cookie cutters.
