        Hi Mimi, interesting question! We know that the circumference (that’s the distance all the way round) of the middle of the Earth (around the Equator) is about 24,901 miles – that’s a long way! So I supposed if you imagine it stretched out flat like a map it would be that far. It’s a good it can’t be stretched out like that though! It’s very important that Earth is round for us to have days and nights and weather.

        If you were to measure all the way around Earth the other way- around the North and South Poles you would find it a little bit shorter! That means Eart isn’t perfectly round – it’s a little bit squished and bulges out in the middle!
